The internet is a rapidly growing, evolving, monster that if your standing still, your over looked. 2 years ago when I first started online projects it was a snap to throw up a website and it would slowly develop itself. However, it seems that now more than ever if you stop developing, your dead and over looked.
The following sites or ideas are not dead, but perhaps remained stagnant for awhile. Each item listed I feel has great potential!

Well, that’s all I got for now, but I know for a fact there are countless others. I suppose I just had an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia earlier perusing through some old posts on an old forum.
Makes me look at some projects that I’ve dropped along the way in favor of more profitable ones. I wonder what others have dropped in favor of ‘better’ ideas?
It seems I’m still trying to find a theme that fits my blogging style and mood. Today, I think I may have found it, after a little bit of modification this one just might stick. The theme being used is ChaoticSoul by Bryan Veloso and the basic installation does not fulfill my SEO needs, so bring out the tools.
I’ll briefly highlight some of the minor changes I’ve made thus far. First and foremost I need to have my blogs name at the top and NOT ChaoticSoul. Afterward, it’s important to me to have some distinction between my theme and the thousands of others being used in standard form. I’ve compiled a few images that embody everything I’m about on the net and used them as my left/right images in the header, I think the end product is nice.
Search engines give my blog intermittent love and usually sends visitors to a single page, possibly months back in the archives. This is great, however with that single_post template they have no idea what my blog is about. By installaing FuzzyPosts and placing a latest_posts.php in my singlepage template visitors can now see my last 10 posts in the sidebar.
What bothers me is that this theme does not include a blogroll standard, it must be added to your sidebar. You can get your blog roll up and running again by placing the code ?php get_links_list(); ?> anywhere in the ChaoticSoul sidebar where you want your links to show up.
For now, that’s about as far as I’ve made it, although I’m far from being finished. Throughout the day I’ll be modifying my AdsenseDeluxe so that my ads blend with the template. Hope others enjoy this template as much as I do.
Google Webmaster Tools has stepped it up again by offering more features and controls over how Google bots view your site. One of the most noteworthy of options is the ability to control how often your site gets spidered, rather how much bandwidth is used during the indexing process.
In addition, a key statistic tool added is the ability to see how many urls your sitemap submitted. This is especially important to insure that your site is being crawled as deeply as possible.
Check it out and more at the Google Webmaster Blog.
It’s easy to get lost in all the advertising companies, especially with big names like Adbrite and Adsense. However, there are ways to find a human face behind the curtains. 😉
There is a thread in DP where a representative from Adbrite answers pretty much any and all questions, even when backed into a corner. Just reading some of the responses makes me more willing to spend more time and money with Adbrite as opposed to Adsense.
Want to join up to Adbrite, check out this link:
I hate, I hate, I hate my personal information leaking onto the internet…no matter what medium it chooses. I hate the fact that I need my personal information to use PayPal and especially when I register a domain. However, it’s possible to hide your personal domain registration details if you choose the right options.
Currently almost all of my 18 domains are purchased through the GoDaddy.com registrar, which seems to offer the cheapest options and the easiest check out process around. In addition, they accept PayPal, which is where most of my earnings come in from my websites anyway. 😉
Typically your costs are broken down into 2 separate transactions, one for the registration of the domain name and two for the price of private registration. Remember, private registration keeps prying eyes off your home address/phonenumber/etc… Private registration can run anywhere from $1.00 to typically $1.99 on godaddy except when the offer promos. Guess what I’m offering my visitors?
When placing your GoDaddy.com order simply add this promo code into the appropriate field: gdh1031
This promo code will get you FREE private registration when your purchase 3 or more domains. So, technically I’m saving you guys $6.00 USD and registering 3 domains is easy, when you get carried away with ideas. lol 😉
Creating theme’s for dynamic websites such as blogs can be a daunting and time consuming task. First you have to create your design, create the images, edit the CSS and then upload everything to your server to actually do a live test. This is where WAMP steps in.
WAMPServer essentially puts server side functions such as mySQL and phpMYADMIN on your windows desktop. This means there is no uploading or downloading to your host only full on editing. This makes for quick editing, testing, and webdesign and hell it’s a little fun too.
I’d recommend everyone check out this free program and I’m gonna work on a how-to article. I hope to cover installing the blog software WordPress on your localhost through this software, to make for easy(& quick) theme development.
A few days ago I started receiving error messages within my WordPress ShortStat reporting. Where it was supposed to be reporting on my latest referrers and keywords instead of was being shown mySQL errors. Database errors intimidate me…I won’t lie, so I contacted my hosting provider.
Lucky for me, it was an obvious fix and was handled immediately after contacting Serverplace.net. Apparently there were temporary files that needed to be purged from my server before new stats could be ‘recorded’. Of course this is the simple answer, but was enough to make me happy and see where my commentors are coming from. 😉
Searching for hosting can be a daunting task, especially since there are an endless number of culprits to be found. A quick search for “hosting” on Google provides you with enough options to choke a horse, but there is help.
V7N is a site that I frequent that offers a number of solutions for webmasters and one is their user rated host site. Check it out, see what others are saying from experience and research before buying in. 😉
Digg and Shoutwire are some of the best examples of online social bookmark sites. These site scan provide an abnormal amount of traffic to an otherwise dull page. It only takes one front page listing on either of these services to pratically shut down a server.
As a webmaster you know traffic translates into scrilla $$. Bring it on!
This evening I happened upon a service I wasn’t familiar with, don’t laugh, Reddit. Not only will this site prove as a useful tool to drive traffic to my sites, but also is just phenomenal to use.
As some of you are aware I work developing a number of websites. One of my most successful sites is my Link Directory, which receives thousands of views and submissions per month. This Link Network consists of the link directory, directory blog, and an article directory. The newest addition is the article directory, which has just recently started receiving consistent submissions.
Today, I received a submission from an indivdiual looking to build backlinks for health related sites, specifically ones dealing with schizophrenia. Not only did this individual submit one article, but more than 5 directly related to schizophrenia diagnosis, schizophrenia treatment, and basically everything you need to know about schizophrenia.
Today, schizophrenia is a disease that can be successfully treated, but witch has no cure. To find the cure, the scientists must find out the cause of schizophrenia, and more and more researches are made in this way.
For more information on the causes of schizophrenia and other diseases check out the disease article category in the directory. Building backlinks by writing articles is a proven way to increase your sites position in search engines. Start by applying to be an author at the Blackfox Article Directory.
