Trends Test
I must admit, I'm confused. There must be more factors at stake here that I'm not able to see, such as articles pointing toward a keyword in Google Trends. My test consisted of me picking a top 10 Google Hot Trend word and then making a post, with the keyword used as the title. Afterward, I choose another 'Spicy' key phrase and repeated said process.
How Does a Kangaroo Stay Cool?
My First search phrase netted me over 200 unique visitors in about a 20hr period. The majority of traffic came from my blog link in the Hot Trends page for the keyword. However, in less than 15 minutes my blog was ranking #2 for the same keyword phrase on normal web search.
A very small percentage of my traffic actually originated from normal web search, around 10%. This leads me to believe the only traffic I received actually looking for this term, organically, was a handful or less. The rest of the traffic was webmasters following the new Google Hot Trend train. Needless to say this traffic did not convert, at least with the few Adsense ads I have running on my site.
Iron Carbon Alloy
The second keyword phrase I used was Iron Carbon Alloy, which netted less than 20 hits. My opinion is that less people were interested in this phrase, at least webmasters interested in what Hot Trends could offer their site. All of my traffic came from my blog link on the Hot Trends Page. Although Spicy at one point, 'Iron Carbon Alloy' has already dropped off the hot trends radar.
Conclusion
More testing is definitely necessary to see what other external factors play a part in ranking. For Hot Trends blog links some sort of relevance is determined before your site is even listed. Lastly, webmasters hanging on Google's every move do not convert...at all. So how do we use this in a real world, marketing and converting environment?

Yet another search trend, so if your looking for more information on: carom, belafonte, shari belafonte, plastic leather brand name, doctor zhivago song. I'd suggest doing some research over at Wikipedia.

Oddly enough my regular forum surfing led me to the new Google Hot Trends. Today, it would seem the subject is how Kangaroo's keep cool. So, how does a kangaroo keep cool? For most questions like this I turn to Wikipedia, since I'm not a marsupial, and I don't live in a Kangaroo infested location, I need to rely on outside information.
According to our friends over at Wikipedia, a Kangaroo's efficiency in a very hot and dry climate is directly related to their hopping. For every time they hop, their lungs are expelled of air and when the recoil, for landing, they are filled back up. This leads to more efficient use of their bodily fluids, less energy is expelled, and the kangaroo will keep cooler because of this.
Is this the definitive answer for 'how does a kangaroo keep cool'? Probably not. Will it result in higher hits to my blog today, according to Google Trends? It'll depend if people are searching for Kangaroo answers through the blog search. Most of my visitors should be searching for Kangaroo in Tampa and Orlando, Florida, however a few visitors will undoubtedly show up from Atlanta, GA.

Up Down Waves WordPress Theme
I'm on a new kick to purchase the rights to WP themes. The link building abilities with a free theme are outstanding and there are more designers than there all purchasers right now. Which translates into the getting is good.
Below is a free template I acquired the rights to and making available to the masses. It's a simple 2 column theme with a 3 column footer for Comments, Latest Posts, and a blog roll.
Questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to state your piece.

Thursday Throwdown
It isn't enough that I go through life living in 'Missing Chromosome Hell', but now I've got to be subjected to it on TV and the internet. I've decided my Throwdowns could be done more frequently and better annunciated through FecalAgitator, my new bitch blog. Nevertheless, the Thursday edition will always be a little water down and still here on my personal blog.
- Diagonal yellow lines mean 'No Parking' not 'Fat Lazy Bastard Parking'.
- A gas station running out of coffee at 7:45 am should be punishable upon death.
- Drinking Diet Coke with your extra value meal, large, is freakin pointless and irritating.
- When posting in online forums, read at least the majority of the thread before putting your $.02 in. I hate reading the same 5 word response over and over.
- Those on the receiving end of most prejudices perpetuate said prejudice.
Only observations and said only to make myself feel better. Thanks for allowing me to keep my sanity for one more week. I swear, if it gets any worse my high blood pressure will cause my eyes to bleed.

Google Optimization Report
Apparently I'm terrible at optimizing my site, in Google's eyes. A few months ago I started blacklisting and filtering low paying ads, which has increased my earnings. However, the filtering has lowered the actual number of clicks I receive. This coupled with me using more and more Affiliate Programs has my focus moving away from monetization with Google Adsense.
It's fine and it's dandy, but for the second month in a row I've received a notice from Google stating that I'm blocking too many ads. Perhaps I'm blocking ads that convert well for my site, according to Google. Automation is nice, just keep it out of your optimization report...at least for 2 months in a row. Dang't, I know what I'm missing out on and it's nothing more than a $.01 click.
